What is Reformer Pilates?

It's a type of Pilates workout done on a machine called the reformer, which uses springs, straps, and a moving carriage to create resistance and support during movement.

It’s a full-body, low-impact workout that focuses on core strength, alignment, flexibility, and control but with the added challenge (and fun) of a reformer machine.

Invented by Joseph Pilates, it began as a rehabilitation method. Today, Pilates is used for fitness, physical therapy ,and wellness and is practised by everyone from elite athletes to postnatal mums.

How It Works

You lie, sit, kneel, or stand on the reformer depending on experience and what you’re comfortable with.

Springs are adjusted to change resistance, making it easier or harder depending on your level.

Movements are slow, precise and controlled, targeting deep stabilising muscles.

What’s so good about it?

It delivers results without beating you up!

You build real strength (especially core and glutes), improve flexibility, and tone muscles, without joint pain or impact. You won’t be pounding your joints like in HIIT (high-intensity impact training)  or running. It's great for people recovering from injury, postnatal bodies, or anyone who wants effective training without wear and tear.

The reformer machine adds a sense of flow and control, with endless ways to modify or progress. It improves how you move in everyday life—walking, sitting, lifting—by targeting postural muscles and stabilisers. Finally, it works for everyone. Total beginner? No problem. You can scale up or down by adjusting the springs, tempo, or movement range.

Our Studio

We’re a small studio with four reformer beds but, smaller classes mean more personal attention, which leads to better form, faster progress, and a safer, more supportive experience.

We offer a variety of classes to suit all levels but also so you can choose what works for you. Would you prefer the relaxed class or the more intense workout? Your choice!

In the unfortunate event an instructor is not available we have the option to run a Virtual class at a reduced cost. This gives you the choice if you still wish to attend your session and avoids a cancellation and us letting you down.
